Erin Corzine (Applied Math-Econ, ’16) During my life, math increasingly became my favorite subject, which led me to take courses at three different colleges during my time in high school. Recently I took an economics course, and it made me realize how mathematical modeling is an integral part to understanding both human behavior and man-made phenomena. Aside from studying and consuming absurd amounts of caffeine, I enjoy dancing and am a part of a dance group on campus. I also am a sucker for puns, enjoy driving tractors, and love helping people!

Katrina Kardassakis (Vice-President, Junior). Math has been my favorite subject since as long as I can remember. I was that nerd who looked forward to and had fun doing my math homework. I competed for my middle school in the Math Section in two Academic Decathlons. I could not get enough math! Utilizing and understanding formulas and math tricks is great but learning to apply it to my life is perfect! There is nothing more rewarding than using creative problem solving skills to figure out a challenging math problem. I am concentrating in Applied-Math Economics and cannot wait to start a rewarding career! When I am not doing math, I am a tourguide here at Brown, am in the Brown Investment group, love to dance, and love hanging out with friends! I am originally from Los Angeles, California and love the sun. If you have any questions about Applied Math or need help understanding any concepts, feel free to email me whenever!

Jesus Leyva (Publicity and Website Management, 1st year) I am a first year first year student interested in studying Applied Mathematics (Biology Track). I first became passionate about applied mathematics and its relationship to the biological science over the summer when I got to sit in Professor Thompson’s Comp-Bio lab and the emphasis he made on the mathematics behind computational biology as applied to genetics. Aside from studying my heart out, I am quite passionate about literature (Vonnegut, Rand, and Rulfo), dancing, and field hockey.

Leela Senthil Nathan (Applied Math-CS, Third Year) I am one of the publicity chairs for the AMDUG this year, and am a junior concentrating in Applied Math-Computer Science. I've always enjoyed studying math, and at Brown I discovered how closely related math and computer science are and how my knowledge of each subject complements my understanding the other. Apart from spreading word about our events across campus, I also enjoy playing tennis and writing fiction.

Angelia Wang (Applied Math-Bio, Third Year) Before college, I competed extensively in various math competitions and in doing so, developed a strong interest for logical problem-solving. I knew I wanted to study mathematics in college but was afraid of ruining my passion for pure math by turning it into a career. Fortunately, Applied Math-Bio allows me to use numerical analysis in situations regarding chemistry, genetics, and biology and consequently explore a level of critical thinking absent from pure math. It's exciting stuff. When I am not working on problem sets or sleeping, I enjoy juggling, ballroom dancing, and drawing editorial cartoons for the Brown Daily Herald.
