Welcome

Welcome to the homepage of Brown University's Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) student chapter!

The Brown SIAM Student Chapter, a local chapter of the larger Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, was established in October 2015 and is a group for students, postdocs, faculty, staff, and visitors interested in applied math. Our goal is to foster an active interdisciplinary STEM community at Brown, and we organize professional, academic, and social events for undergrad and graduate students.

The Brown SIAM Student Chapter is responsible for a variety of events including:

  • Information panels: Applying for Post-Docs and Grants, Applying to Grad School, Research Writing Advice from Journal Editors
  • The annual Brown Mathematical Contest for Modeling
  • Social events: Pi Day celebration and game nights
  • LaTeX Tutorials
  • Finals prep & cookie events
  • And more! Take a look at the our events page for details!

All are welcome to join the Chapter and participate in events - if you would like to get involved or learn more, email SIAM@brown.edu. We hope to see you at our next event!

If you would like to collaborate with us on an event, please contact us! Check out the current Collaborators page to see our current partners!

We are supported by the Division of Applied Mathematics, the Grad Student Council, and SIAM.
