Welcome to the webpage of the informal
Information Theory and Pattern Theory Lunchtime Seminar

Division of Applied Math, Brown University
Spring 2001

General Information

This semester we'll continue our informal seminar on pattern theory and information theory.
WHEN: Tuesdays 12-1p.m.
WHERE: Room 110, Division of Applied Math, 182 George Str
The main purpose of this seminar is to offer an opportunity for discussions on topics of current interest in these two areas. Each week there will be an informal presentation/discussion of a specific topic; pattern theory and info theory topics will (roughly) alternate. We hope that most of the presentations will be given by graduate students, either reporting on their own research, or presenting results from a recent paper (or series of papers).

The pattern theory side will be run by David Mumford, and the information theory side by Ioannis Kontoyiannis. See one of them if you'd like to give a presentation. They can suggest topics and offer some pointers to the current literature.
