Aneurysm?

Bad thing first of all. It is a disease on the blood vessel wall; it is problematic because it may rupture. If that happens in a brain, it may cause a fatal stroke. Bursting flowers are beautiful but not the burst of an aneurysm. The initiation, growth, and rupture is closely related to WSS (Wall Shear Stress). CFD simulation plays an important and crucial role in finding the correlation between aneurysm and WSS.

Vortex Induced Vibration

Good thing but can be bad. Beautiful sound from instruments may be generated by VIV (Vortex Induced Vibration). But VIV also can have a deviastating effect, that is, breaking things up. The tacoma bridge becomes the most frequently mentioned incident in this area. For VIV study, a cylinder in a flow has captivated a lot of researchers because of the richness of interesting phenomena and its geometric simplicity.

Image-based motion measurement

Using digital images, motion of a vessel was measured and fed into the controller which tried to maintain the position of the vessel. Here I learned digital signal/image processing technology.

Automated Testing and Measurement

Accelerometer is one of popular applications of MEMS technology. Testing accelerometer is not an easy task because it needs mechanical stimuli and the electrical signal from the device under test should be measured accurately and process fast. The test involves calibration process which measures and records the characteristic parameters on MEMS chips. Nothing is easy.
