Robert Gould Shaw Memorial

He was the leader of the African-American 54th Massachusetts Infantry, the first official black units in the United States armed forces, during the Civil War. He is riding a horse in the sculpture which was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This picture was taken at the Boston Common just across the stree from the Massachussetts State House. If I visit Boston Common later, I'll take more detailed pictures. I want to read how the soldiers' felt and how the sculptor embodied them. They were supposed to be volunteers and they should be pround of themselves because they were marching to fight for their and their descendents' freedom

Relief molding in 182 George Street Building

The above relief molding is found on the wall of a conference room in 182 George street. I thought it is beautiful. The in- and outside of building is filled with intricacies.
