Wild Dreams are BAEK

Dream dreams

Genius and Grade A+

I want to share an experience I had while I TAed for two years. I had so much fun. Weeks without recitations were even boring. During those weeks, I was haunted by kind of emptiness that I did not realize the reason for. I think I know how actors and actresses feel when they perform on a stage and why they want to play on a stage. You may not agree with me but I believe teaching in a classroom is comparable to performing in a theater. Grabbing people's attention, making them cry or laugh, delivering a message explicitly or implicitly, letting the audience appreciate something they couldn't, openning their eyes to a new world. Isn't it a joy to share something with others? I was born with empty hands. Now I am glad and happy because I have something even though these are not that great or something envyable. This is the reason why I want to teach someday. After a long introduction, here we go. There was one student in my class. He noded and slept most of my recitations. I knew that he was going to fail if he continued to do that. I thought I had to take some actions to engage him into the class and I began to ask him questions from easy ones. Whenever he said something, I complimented him and sometimes I call him a genius. He seemed to change a little bit. I did some efforts to stay awake at least. The semester was over and I couldn't see him any more. another semester passed. He was out of my mind already before he approached me one day. I was taking a cup of hot green tea in the lobby and he was passing through the lobby. He saw me and smiled, showing his white teetch.

How can I pay you back?

I have receive so much from everyone epecially my teachers. I cannot thank the library system in the States enough for its generosity and hard work to keep up with the evolving knowledge. My country supported my education from elementary school to college. Someday I want to pay back hundred-fold by founding schools and raising scholars. I believe this is the best thing I can do for the society that has nutured me so far.

Secret Garden open to everyone

When I was young, I spent lots of time in a field helping my grandma sow in the spring and reap in the fall. In the field with my grandma, I learned how rewarding hard works to sow in the spring and take care of them under the blazing sun are. Maybe that is why I like to grow plants. My father planted trees at the edge of our front yard, they grew and bore fruits every year. From time to time, typhoons came and shook the village. The trees lost some twigs and sometimes branches, but they never gave up delivering hundreds of pears and bunches of grapes. There were two or three small apple trees also but I had to leave the village before we tasted any apple from them.
