I am Hyoungsu[He-young-su] Baek.
Two days after the lunar calendar New Year's Day.
Finally, I updated my web pages. Through this updating, I intended to teach myself Adobe family softwares. I guess I got what I wanted.
You do not care?! Fine! Anyway I'll explain because this space should be filled. When you greet some one from a long trip, what do you say? You might say, 'Welcome back.' Now my family name sounds like back in 'Welcome back.' Suppose my English name is 'Welcome', then you should call me ' Welcome Baek'. Easy!
'Hyoungsu' has three parts, 'H' + 'Young' + 'Su'. You know how to pronounce 'young' in 'young man.' So just pronounce 'He' before 'Young'. I have some english nicknames for people who never met Korean in their lives. Here are some examples; Welcome, John, and so other common english names.
It means 'White' color. So some of my japanese friends call me 'Mr. White.' Maybe the White in the western world are my relatives. I have to check its genealogy (Even there is no record about that, we are all descendents of Adam and Eve). My family tree book traces back to the end of Korea dynasty which was around 14th century A.D. A chinese family fled to Korea and settled down. That was the beginning of the Baek's in Korea. I believe some chinese friends know about the earlier history of the Baek family in china.
Hyounsu Baek means 'purity and prosperity last forever.'
I was born naked and empty handed. But I am not now naked at least. I lay down yesterday night but I woke up this morning and I am still breathing.
My birthplace was flooded when a dam was built. Whole village had to move and every one was scattered all over the country. Some went north and others went east. |
